Her talents have taken her far and wide, but hairdresser Catherine Long, calls northern Michigan home.
Based out of Cadillac, Catherine has been a stylist for more than 25 years, however she spent the last few years investing in her education and learning new techniques. Her investment has paid off.
Not only does Catherine have a notable social media following and hand-picked clientele, but she has also received recognition in Hollywood.
After learning new and necessary skills, Catherine began marketing herself through Instagram. She has only been on the social media app for two years, but has garnered 191,000 followers.
Her followers are drawn to her hair painting techniques, specifically how shes been able to master the tricky balayage hair coloring style.
Because of social media’s far-reaching capabilities, celebrities such as rapper Lil’ Kim and reality star Kim Zolciak-Biermann have hired Catherine to color their hair and wigs.
Aside from her work behind the chair, Catherine also teaches classes. She spent a couple years traveling around the country to teach, but now Catherine has people flying to her to attend her sold-out classes at her studio in Cadillac.
The light of Catherine’s impressive career got even brighter last year when Catherine submitted a photo to the One Shot Awards for best hair painting. Up against 344,000 other submissions, Catherine took home first place.
